ABOUT E WASTE RECYCLING

Navigate Electronics Recycling Challenges with Confidence
Retiring IT equipment and electronics is no longer just about clearing space - it’s about protecting your business. E waste management brings complex demands around data security, regulatory compliance, and environmental responsibility. Without the right strategy or partner, businesses face increasing risk.
Inconsistent vendors, uncertified processes, and poor documentation can trigger customs delays, shipment rejections, and supply chain disruptions - creating headaches for IT, logistics, and compliance teams. Missing key regulations like the WEEE Directive or Basel Convention can lead to fines, legal exposure, and non-compliance and poor data handling may result in GDPR breaches and long-term damage to your brand and ESG credibility.

Secure and Sustainable Electronics Lifecycle Management Solutions
Whether decommissioning a data center or refreshing IT hardware, SK Tes offers a secure, streamlined solution that turns electronics recycling into a managed, circular process.
Every device begins its retirement with a documented chain of custody: assets are sealed on-site, GPS-tracked, and sanitized or shredded using NIST 800-88 or IEEE 2883-2022 standards. A Certificate of Destruction is issued, ensuring full data protection without the need for multiple vendors.
Our process prioritizes reuse first. Devices suitable for redeployment or parts harvesting are recovered, while non-reusable equipment enters our recycling stream. Precious metals are refined, and hazardous materials like mercury and lithium-ion are treated compliantly. Remaining materials are responsibly recycled via open-loop channels.
OEM Take-Back & Product Stewardship
SK Tes is a trusted OEM partner for responsible electronic waste recycling globally. Our tailored take-back programs help manufacturers manage excess stock, warranty returns, and field-failed units through a secure, compliant workflow.
With over 30 R2 and ISO-certified ITAD and e waste recycling facilities - the largest network in the industry - we handle prototype and counterfeit destruction, trade-in refurbishment, and returns logistics under a single chain of custody. Each processed batch includes a Certificate of Destruction, material recovery data, and a Carbon Loop reporting.

How E Waste Recycling Works with SK Tes
Follow each step of our secure and sustainable e waste recycling process.
-
At SK Tes, we manage the secure transportation of retired IT equipment as part of our end-to-end electronics waste management and recycling services. From your facility to one of our global processing centers, we provide reverse logistics solutions that include professional packaging, palletizing, and fully documented, secure transport.
All IT assets are verified, labelled, and recorded at the point of collection, ensuring complete visibility throughout transit. Upon arrival, our teams conduct a thorough inventory and reconciliation process, matching items against the driver’s manifest with detailed records and photo documentation. This maintains an unbroken chain of custody, giving you full auditability and peace of mind.
-
Upon arrival at one of our secure processing facilities, all electronics are unpacked and scanned into our Warehouse Management System (WMS).
Our team verifies the collection manifest and checks for any discrepancies. Each asset is recorded and assigned a unique tracking ID, establishing a transparent, traceable audit trail from the moment it enters our facility.
-
Electronics recycling operation begins with detailed inspection and diagnostics. Using software-based tools, we test device functionality, check for visible damage or missing components, and capture complete hardware configurations. This enables accurate sorting and helps identify equipment with potential for reuse, refurbishment, or material recovery.
All incoming assets are pre-sorted by type, condition, and recovery potential to maximize environmental and economic value. Equipment suitable for reuse is set aside for redeployment or resale, while non-functional devices continue through our recycling stream.
A core part of our operations is the safe and compliant handling of hazardous materials. Electronic waste often contains valuable raw materials like gold and copper, but also hazardous substances such as mercury and lithium, which require specialized management. Our processes are built to recover valuable resources while ensuring hazardous fractions are isolated and treated to the highest environmental standards.
We maintain full material traceability throughout every stage, from receipt to final processing. All waste streams are closely monitored to ensure compliance and support responsible recycling.
-
All storage devices as part of electronics recycling process undergo certified data erasure or physical destruction, depending on client policy and asset condition.
We apply industry-standard sanitization protocols, including NIST 800-88 or IEEE 2883, with full documentation and audit logs. Drives that cannot be wiped are shredded to ensure complete data destruction and protect your business from reputational or regulatory risk. A Certificate of Data Destruction (COD) is provided for all data-bearing equipment.
-
The demanufacturing process at SK Tes includes fully secure data destruction of all storage media, whether through shredding of data sanitization.
It also includes dismantling, sorting and parts harvesting. A full audit report is available on the client portal.
Assets are then manually dismantled, separating components and materials by type. During this process, we remove and destroy any remaining storage media, harvest reusable parts, and sort items for parts harvesting or recycling. Each batch is audited and logged for full traceability.
-
Parts, components and equipment that cannot be reused are processed through our electronics recycling stream.
Materials are segregated - metals, plastics, and hazardous materials such as batteries or mercury-containing parts are isolated and processed through specialized treatment. We carry out precious metal recovery where applicable, ensuring maximum resource efficiency.
A final audit is performed, and clients are issued a Certificate of Destruction as proof of responsible processing.

RECOVER VALUE FROM ELECTRONICS RECYCLING AND PRECIOUS METAL REFINING
At SK Tes, we help businesses unlock the recoverable financial value hidden in retired electronics through reuse, recycling and precious metal refining. Many IT assets contain high-value materials, such as gold, silver, copper, and palladium, embedded in circuit boards and components. Our specialized processes extract these metals efficiently and responsibly, transforming e-waste into a source of measurable return.
A critical part of the SK tes process is the safe and compliant management of hazardous materials, such as mercury and lithium, which require careful handling to the highest environmental standards. This protects both your organization’s reputation and ours, ensuring all waste streams are managed with consistency, transparency, and care.
We maintain full oversight of material flows - before, during, and after processing - so every asset is traceable through to its final destination. This closed tracking system helps ensure materials are processed responsibly and do not leak into informal or unregulated markets.
SECURE IT ASSET DISPOSITION (ITAD) SERVICES
We prioritize reuse first, before recycling. IT assets are collected under sealed chain-of-custody, processed with strict data sanitization standards (NIST 800-88 or IEEE 2883), and evaluated for IT redeployment, resale, or responsible recycling - depending on condition and value.
Through our global infrastructure and local logistics teams, we support large-scale refresh cycles with managed deployment and take-back programs, as well as lease-back and buy-back options that improve value recovery while supporting circularity.
Each program includes complete reporting with CODs, residual value summaries, and verified Carbon Loop reporting - available through the SK Tes client portal for full traceability and financial transparency.
