Leading with Impact, Learning Every Day, and Growing Together

C Amash 3

Hi, my name is Carissa Amash, and I’m a Global Solutions Manager at SK tes. Based in Scotland, I have the privilege of working with global teams to create impactful solutions that align with our clients’ unique needs.

My journey with SK tes

My career has two very distinct halves. I’m American and spent the first half of my career working as a museum curator in New York City and Washington, DC. After moving to Glasgow, Scotland, I started working in ITAD, focusing on RFP and tender responses, subcontractor management, and ESG policy development. Communication, creativity, and understanding our differences have been important in all of these roles.

What makes SK tes special

I really enjoy digging in to understand the nuance of each client’s needs, specific goals, and requirements, then creating a solution or proposal to meet them. Words like “global” and “sustainability” mean different things to different clients. I enjoy the challenge of making sure that the work we do aligns with their definitions.

New opportunities to grow

There’s nothing cookie-cutter about my work. Every day is different, every client is different, and every country is different. That means I am constantly being challenged, then learning and developing professionally and personally. If I haven’t learned something new and interesting by lunchtime, it’s a very slow work day! And a lot of those things help me to better understand the world beyond work, too. For example, understanding local recycling compliance means learning about the governments and legislation that shapes those communities. It’s fascinating and has made me a better global citizen.

Global vision, local impact

A global company is only successful if they understand how to operate locally. My manager and the team across Europe have been supportive in helping me to manage that balance in a practical way in my work.

Work-life balance and entrepreneurial freedom

I work from home. That’s pragmatic because I’m supporting global teams across time zones, but it’s also great personally. I am able to structure my time so that both work and my family are getting the best out of me.

Celebrating wins through collaboration

It’s so rewarding when a project team clicks and all of our individual strengths are focused on the same goal. Happily, this moment has happened a few times since I joined SK tes in August, whether it’s onboarding a new local recycling partner or winning new client work. It’s especially meaningful when working in cross-cultural teams.

Where global service meets local solutions

SK tes's balance between providing global and local service is special. Big global companies are, obviously, important clients. But so are smaller local companies, and I’m able to create solutions and develop local networks to support them. A lot of companies wouldn’t want their employees taking the time to do that, but SK tes does.

Proud to be part of SK tes

Most of us jump to thinking about sustainability in terms of environment, but I’m really interested in governance, creating responsible supply chains, and helping to bridge the digital divide, which is critical to creating equality and opportunity for everyone. SK tes does all of that, and I’m proud to know that my work makes a difference.
