Honoring innovations and innovators, the Edison Awards is a globally respected achievement that honors the highest levels of new product and service development, marketing, human-centered design, and innovation.

TES, having been nominated earlier this year, has been awarded the 2022 Gold Award by the Edison Awards Steering Committee in the very competitive Sustainability-Power Generation and Recovery category.

The Edison Awards, distributed annually in Fort Meyers, Florida—the long-time home of Thomas Edison—recognize and honor innovations and innovators whose solutions make a positive impact on the world. As a 2022 Edison Awards Gold-level winner, TES joins an elite group of companies that includes many Fortune 500 brands.

TES received its award on April 21st in a ceremony hosted by Miles O’Brien, a journalist from PBS NewsHour, at the Luminary Hotel in Fort Myers.

“Gold, Silver and Bronze winners are chosen as the ‘best of the best’ within their respective categories by some of the world’s top senior business executives, designers, academics, and innovation leaders,” states Edison Universe, the award organizers.

“Being recognized with an Edison Award™ is one of the highest accolades a company can receive in the name of innovation and business success. The Edison Awards honor excellence in new product and service development, marketing, human-centered design, and innovation. We congratulate all of our winners for their accomplishment,” adds Edison Universe.

TES has made significant investments in people, systems, and new technologies in its quest to realize its vision: to be a global sustainability leader. TES helps its clients manage the commissioning, deployment, retirement, and recycling of information communications technology (ICT).

Given the massive increase in the use of battery technology in recent times, TES has also invested in becoming a leader in innovative closed-loop solutions to recycle, recover, reuse, and repurpose lithium batteries globally.

The company’s flagship battery recycling facility in Singapore uses a proprietary physical and hydrometallurgical process to recycle up to 14 metric tons of lithium batteries daily. In doing so, TES achieves a commodity element recovery rate in excess of 95% from these batteries with a purity level yield of almost 99%, while delivering a safe and low-energy footprint that is powered by solar panels and a 1-megawatt-per-hour energy storage system.

The company is building on its existing global network of battery recycling facilities in Grenoble, France, Singapore, and, more recently, the port of Rotterdam. A new site in Shanghai, due to be commissioned by the end of this year, will use the same proprietary technology and will serve as a springboard for the development of a much larger site in northern China over the next two years.

The Edison Awards, a program conducted by the 501(c)(3) charitable organization Edison Universe, has chosen TES as a winner to recognize these and other innovations and accomplishments.
